Terms of Use

Typealoud is free for you to use. It does its work on your Mac, you own what you say, and it comes without warranty: check what it types.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, installing or using Typealoud (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. The app is made by Jtobin (“we”, “us”); contact: binjto@gmail.com. How the app handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Your licence
We give you a free, non-exclusive, personal licence to install and use the app on Macs that you own or control. You may keep a copy for backup. You may not:
- sell, rent, lend or repackage the app, or offer it for download somewhere else as your own;
- remove or change its name, icon, notices or signature;
- copy the app’s own code, artwork or website text into other products;
- take the app apart or look for its source code, except where the law says you may in spite of this.
We keep all rights not given here. The app is currently free; if that ever changes, it will be stated before you are asked to pay for anything.
3. What you say is yours
You own the words you dictate and the text that comes out. We never receive them, so we cannot use them. You are responsible for what you dictate and where you type it, including that you have the right to record and transcribe other people’s voices (for example in a meeting or a call), and that you follow the law and the rules of the apps you type into.
4. Transcription can be wrong
Speech recognition makes mistakes: wrong words, missing punctuation, names and numbers written the wrong way, or words typed into the wrong place if the cursor moved. Read what was typed before you send, sign or rely on it. Do not use the app where a mistake could cause harm, such as for medical, legal or safety-critical records, without checking them yourself.
5. Permissions and your Mac
The app needs Accessibility (shortcut, cursor and typing), Microphone and Speech Recognition (live words). You grant them in System Settings and can take them back at any time. The app types text into other apps on your behalf, so only use it where you want text to appear. First launch downloads a 3.9 GB speech model, so you need room on your disk and a connection once.
The app is not signed by Apple’s notarisation service, so macOS may block it the first time you open it. The installer window shows how to allow it (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway). Only allow copies you downloaded from our website.
6. Third-party software
Typealoud includes and uses open-source software and a speech model, each under its own licence, which applies to that part and not to these terms:

The model is downloaded from Hugging Face, which has its own terms. Apple’s speech recognition, which gives the live words, is part of macOS and governed by Apple’s terms. The names and logos of other companies belong to them and are used only to say what is used.
7. Updates and changes
The app checks for new versions and offers them to you. An update replaces the app but not your settings, history or model. We may change, pause or stop the app, the website or the update service at any time. We may change these terms; the new version is posted here with a new date, and using the app after that means you accept it.
8. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, so they apply only as far as the law allows.
9. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost work, or text typed in the wrong place, arising from the use of or inability to use the app. If we are found liable anyway, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app, which is nothing for the free version. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting the app (and, if you want, its data folder, see the Privacy Policy). We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 3, 4, 8 and 9 continue after that.
11. If part of this does not hold
If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.

Typealoud 可以免费使用。它在你的 Mac 上完成工作，你说的内容归你，它不提供任何担保：打出来的字请你自己检查。
1. 同意这些条款
下载、安装或使用 Typealoud（下称“本应用”），就表示你同意这些条款。不同意就请不要使用。本应用由 Jtobin（下称“我们”）制作，联系方式：binjto@gmail.com。本应用怎样处理你的数据，写在隐私政策里。
2. 你的使用许可
我们授予你一项免费的、非独占的、个人的许可：可以在你自己拥有或管理的 Mac 上安装和使用本应用，也可以留一份备份。你不可以：
- 出售、出租、出借或重新打包本应用，或者把它当作你自己的东西放到别处提供下载；
- 删除或修改它的名称、图标、声明或签名；
- 把本应用自己的代码、美术或网站文字复制到别的产品里；
- 拆解本应用或设法获取它的源代码，法律明确允许的情况除外。
这里没有授予的权利，都由我们保留。本应用目前是免费的；如果将来要收费，会在让你付钱之前先说明。
3. 你说的话归你
你听写的内容和生成的文字都归你。我们收不到它们，所以也无法使用。你要对自己说的内容和打到哪里负责，包括你有权录下并转写别人的声音（比如会议或通话里的），也包括遵守法律和你所输入的那个 App 的规则。
4. 转写可能出错
语音识别会犯错：认错字、少标点、姓名和数字写得不对，或者光标移动后字打到了别的地方。发送、签字或依赖之前，请先看一遍打出来的内容。在出错会造成伤害的地方，比如医疗、法律或安全相关的记录，不要不经自己核对就使用。
5. 权限和你的 Mac
本应用需要辅助功能（快捷键、光标和打字）、麦克风和语音识别（实时文字）。权限由你在系统设置里授予，随时可以收回。本应用会替你把文字打进别的 App，所以请只在你希望出现文字的地方使用。第一次启动会下载一个 3.9 GB 的语音模型，需要有足够的磁盘空间，并联网一次。
本应用没有经过苹果的公证，所以第一次打开时 macOS 可能会拦住它。安装窗口里写了怎么放行（系统设置 › 隐私与安全性 › 仍要打开）。请只放行从我们网站下载的版本。
6. 第三方软件
Typealoud 包含并使用了开源软件和一个语音模型，各自适用它们自己的许可，只管那一部分，不属于这些条款：

模型从 Hugging Face 下载，适用它自己的条款。提供实时文字的苹果语音识别是 macOS 的一部分，适用苹果的条款。其他公司的名称和标志归它们所有，这里只用来说明用了什么。
7. 更新和变更
本应用会检查新版本并提示你更新。更新会替换应用本身，但不会动你的设置、历史记录和模型。我们可能随时修改、暂停或停止本应用、网站或更新服务。我们也可能修改这些条款；新版本会连同新日期发布在这里，之后你继续使用，就表示接受。
8. 不提供担保
本应用按“现状”和“可用状态”提供，不作任何明示或暗示的担保，包括不保证它准确、不间断、没有错误或适合某个特定用途。有些地方不允许排除其中一部分，这种情况下只在法律允许的范围内适用。
9. 责任限制
在法律允许的范围内，对于因为使用或无法使用本应用造成的任何间接、附带或后果性损失，以及数据丢失、工作丢失或文字打错地方，我们不承担责任。即使被认定要承担责任，我们的总责任也以你为本应用付过的钱为限，免费版就是零。法律不允许限制的责任，不在此限。
10. 终止
你可以随时删除本应用来停止使用（想的话，再删掉它的数据文件夹，见隐私政策）。如果你违反这些条款，我们可以终止你的许可。第 3、4、8、9 条在终止后继续有效。
11. 部分条款无效时
如果这些条款中有一部分被认定无效，其余部分继续有效。
